Five ways to care for your man!!!

So as you all know I got married last November. Well honey let me tell you because no one else will. It is no walk in the park. It is fun but equally trying. Recently I came cross this post about being a better wife. It spoke volumes to my soul this lady said it perfectly for me because being a good wife is something I legit have to work at. It doesn't come naturally to me. I guess I am just wired differently. Please understand I love my husband but its the other stuff that causes me to struggle.

Later I check my inbox and I see this post again speaking to soul and It made me think, there has to be more than just us struggling with this marriage thing. Why is it so wrong for women to say that they need help being a wife? It doesn't mean there is no love or that there is cheating. It simply means help is needed.

I'm not sure I had a good example of what being good wife is so I did some research by talking to some married friends of mine (like I need a reason to gossip on the phone lol). The number one thing I kept hearing was "you gotta take care of ya man." Well the therapist in me couldn't handle the vague taking care of your man answer. I asked for clarity and here is what they came up with:

SEX- This was the number one answer. Of course I have friends who said that marriage is more than sex, but still the majority said sex

FOOD- Another popular answer was to ensure that there is always dinner or whatever meal your husband may need depending on the shift he works.

TAKING CARE OF HOME- Another answer I had to dig a little deeper for. This means ensuring the kids are well kept, the house is decent (clean if you stay home), and you have basically filtered out the bullshit that will only increase his load.

BEING SUPPORTIVE-  Encouraging him as the world is tough an men want to and need to know they are doing a good job as the man of the house. This also includes supporting his dreams (even if you feel like being a wife and mom are slowly killing yours because after all you chose this life).

PRAY- So only a few people said this one. I personally think it should be at the top but I am sticking true to what my "married friends" said. This one is a great one. I notice when my hubby and I are praying together daily our relationship is smoother, and things seem to align. As soon as we get too comfortable and slack on the daily prayers together things get rocky.

These things all seem really easy but when you are working and raising children it is easy to fall into a pattern of boring and waiting on Friday. Then Friday comes and you are dog tired and all you can think about is sleep your spouse may go neglected. Then you think Oh we have Saturday but in my case Saturday is packed with youth sports and errands and once again your spouse has gotten the short end of the stick.

All in all marriage is  a hard, winding, two way street that has to be walked if not ran EVERY single day in order to make it work. Hopefully this small list will help some newlywed working mom like it helped me. I am making a genuine effort to do each of these things weekly some are harder than others (that's what she said!!!) just based on weekly incidents but I'm thinking if I do all five in a week he should notice a difference and married life will be a tad easier.

Ok married ladies what are your thoughts??...

She cooks...???!!!!

I know I usually don't do this but I am experimenting with different types of post to see what my readers really want to hear about (as well as develop my niche, voice style, blah blah). It seems that my posts about my never ending weight loss struggle journey, crafts, my wedding, home management, and even this old recipe type post are a major hit.

I plan to spice it up around here (as time allows) and still stay true to the reasons I started blogging in the beginning.... all that to say this is a food post. Nope it is not healthy because when I made dinner this night I was off the proverbial wagon!

My husband usually does the cooking at my house. Perk to being married to a chef! However in his absence I had to dust off the old cook books... hey mini me and I have to live LOL. I was craving chicken quesadillas from a restaurant downtown and there were two reasons why I couldn't have it. One, its toooo far away from my house, the other is the never ending budget. I digress...

A friend of mine was like just make them they are easy. So that's what I did...

I grilled chicken on my George Foreman grill, and then proceeded to shred it as we discussed politics and making changes in the world gossiped like high schools girls and talked about the joys of being married.

It was really easy I used the chicken I had just shredded, shredded cheese, ranch, bacon bits, and quesadillas. I made varying quesadillas (she doesn't eat pork, mini me was apprehensive about the ranch dressing... blah blah)

I put all my ingredients near the stove because I can be so messy in the kitchen LOL

I placed the quesadillas in the skillet with minimal oil, on low heat, then loaded it up

Folded that baby in half, flipped it over a couple times so both sides would be brown and BOOM homemade quesadillas.... Of course there was salsa and sour cream but who really needs to see how much I ate when Im sure in a couple post I will be discussing my weight!!!

Oh and some ways to clean this up is to use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, wheat quesadillas, and low fat cheese, and SKIP the ranch and bacon.

Wedding Weight and Whatnot

Hey ladies!!! I am very excited that my wedding binder is done!!! Woot Woot!!! If your a reader you know I went out and bought that HUGE pink one that they sell everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE hobby lobby included. It was not easy but with help from this girl I got through it. So here it is...

Me when I thought hey lets put it together

So I decided lets take what we need from the ridiculous binder and place it in the new one. This is in addition to worksheets and spreadsheets I printed online. Read: Google has google documents, and anything from the above referenced site LMBO!!!

SO I started getting frustrated

I'm thinking why did I do this... UGGHHH!!!!!! In the end though it came out nice.

I could have gotten a regular binder but no I had to be a Martha Stewart slut LOL

I did keep this handy hole punch and pouch holder from the pink thing

Yep I was a sucker and got the Martha matching paper

I also printed a paper calender (for free not Martha) If you want details of what I put inside just see the above link I pretty much copied her totally. Also I did another post you can see HERE that is more detailed about what is actually in the binder and contains links to things I used. I also did a detailed break down at the end of the POST.

For St. Patty Day we went to Hooters. Mini me is gone for spring break and let me tell you. When the kid is away the parents will play!!!!

I didnt have any green so they gave me a fake tattoo

They gave the Mr. one too

Since its Monday I will go ahead and be honest. While I haven't gained any weight I have not lost any either. Partly because I have been a human garbage can and I have not been working out. So I looked at the pics of me when I went gown shopping and kicked my ass back into high gear...

The boo had a protein shake waiting on me

While he was cooking this lovely tasty goodness!!!

Thats all that has been up with me what about you ladies and gents. I have missed yall...

8 years ago God saw fit to send me an Angel!!! Love this Diva

I became lazy and just stopped trying the holidays and traveling for the wedding got in my way and I didn't exercise as much but, I managed to control my eating and make healthy choices so my weight did not go up! the one pound I did gain left. I guess all the water drinking does work! Here are some meals I took pictures of...

My fiance makes the best Salmon ever!!!!
Lunch was catered at work one day

12.45 mile! the time is slowing going down!!!

Today I worked out and was in a grove and at 9 minutes I had completed .77 of a mile and because I'm huge, run weird and was trying to stay focused and keep running then I hit the emergency stop and my information was lost. I was SOOOOO pissed and I'm sure I could have beat my time. Oh well that is just motivation for tomorrow!!!

So how have you all been since I been gone? How was your holiday?

SO I know it has been a while but here I am…. So much has happened where to start… I GOT ENGAGED!!!!! Woot woot (mid happy dance thinks Oh hell no I will not be a fat ass bride)…

So he proposed in front of my immediate family and  my line sister (I am a Zeta) at my favorite place to eat, Chillis, which is also where we had our first date!!!! *I scream*

This is us in the way to hang out... EVERYONE knew it was about to happen but me!!!!
He is not good with pictures!!!!

My girl Erin hooked me up with a Pintrest board (as if I didn’t have one LOL)… I found this really cute bridesmaid dress and we will see what the ladies think about it….
Yes the colors are purple and grey and I think this dress is AMAZING!!!!!

Guess more of my meals will have to look like this …

Im going to have to start leaving the cheese off probably

Because I am officially SWEATING FOR THE DRESS!!!! Yaaaaaay

Now I have heard that planning a wedding makes you lose friends but dam! I haven’t even been engaged a week and already people upset. My dear friend was very dry when I announced my engagement letting me know that she was at tailgating (after it had been said that no one could get dressed in time to be at the restaurant) but oh well I still sent her an email asking her to be a bridesmaid but I'm thinking she will get cut. I do not want anyone involved that is not happy for me. I mean geesh be a real friend and fake happiness to me and be jealous on your own time hefer! LOL…

Anywho here we are right after I said yes. I promise I will post a better pic of him but my baby just does not photograph well LOL…

So here we go follow me as I SWEAT FOR THE DRESS, and plan OUR BIG DAY!!!!!....
